Description

Bronze statue of Frere in privy counsellor's uniform, with the robe and collar of a Knight Grand Commander of the Star of India and the insignia of the Order of the Bath. On the front of the pedestal is a relief, showing an allegorical figure "victory achieved, peace sought and the readiness to maintain honour with a sword:" seated woman with sword and shield inscribed PRO PATRIA; and on the sides small shields INDIA and AFRICA.
