Statues of Cristopher Columbus and Queen Isabella are located to both sides of the entrance of the main inner door of the National Palace.
The Columbus statue was revealed the 12 October 1924 when being celebrated 432nd anniversary of the discovery of America by the admiral.
The statue is a gift of Alfonso XIII, king of Spain, to the city of San Salvador.
