Twelve statues symbolizing international seafaring and commercial powers are on the building's façade. Each statue stands for a nation, they are from left to right: Greece, Rome, Phoenicia, Genoa, Venice, Spain, Holland, Portugal, Denmark, Belgium, England, and France.
