Description

The former 'Casa de Câmara e Cadeia de Vila Rica' (Town hall and jail of Vila Rica [Ouro Preto]) was built in the 1780s and is one of the most important examples of baroque colonial architecture in Brazil. On the four corners of the balustrade on the roof are stone statues of the four virtues of government: Justice, Courage, Temperance, and Force.
