Description

Fountain with figures of cast iron. The four seated figures around the central column are:
  1. Poseidon, god of the sea
  2. Amphitrite, nereid.
  3. Acis, spirit of the Acis River in Sicily, lover of Galatea.
  4. Galathée / Galatea, nereid

Around the upper part are four putti representing sea-faring, fishery, agriculture and unknown.

Annotation

From the workshop of Val d'Osne (Barbezat), and placed in June 1863.

In 1928 Edmond Barde, who interpreted the four figures as the four seasons and called it Fontaine des Quatre-Saisons (Four Seasons Fountain).
