Description

The fountain shows three mounted Cossacks in uniform, equipped with long lances. It recalls the 1813 liberation of Jeverland with the help of Russian Cossack regiments. The Russian era began for Jever with the death of Friedrich August von Anhalt-Zerbst in 1793. Since he had no male heirs, the Principality of Anhalt-Zerbst, and thus the Jeverland fell to his sister Sophie Auguste Friederike, which was as Catherine II Empress of Russia. During the Napoleonic wars the Jeverland was from 1806-1813 occupied by Dutch and French troops. The Cossacks took Jeverland in 1813 back for the Russian Czar. In 1818 the Russian episode ended with the resignation of Jeverland to the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg.

Kriege wurde es vaon 1806-1813
durch holländische und
französische Truppen besetzt.

1813 befreiten die Kosaken
das Jeverland und nahmen es
wieder für den russischen
Zaren in besitz.
