Description

Marble statue of Saint Benignus, in the side of the base is carved: "U don't have to be alone".
Description of the statue, translated from Thüringen Universal: "The martyr, who seems rather haggard to the viewer (his feast day is the 1st of November), holds his arms in front of his body as if to hold his ground and proudly raises his head (the model was a friend from Erfurt). His eyes are at rest. The lips are slightly open, as if they wanted to speak. The body rises massively from the giant block. He has a dog by his side, his muzzle directed reverently towards the holy man, reminiscent of those beasts that Benignus should, according to legend, mangle at his behest and instead confidently join him - before him the judges, behind him the people."
