Street Light Evolution Koen Fraijman Street Light Evolution was installed on 7 July 2015 as an ode to engineers. The artwork shows the development of street lighting over the centuries. The lights have been arranged in a bouquet so they literally put each other in the spotlight. This invites the spectator to not only look at the gleam from the street lights themselves, but to also look at the posts themselves and to appreciate all the work behind them. Street Light Evolution was designed by Koen Fraijman, an In- dustrial Design student. He involved 12 TU Delft honours stu- dents from various faculties to help him create hjis design. They were able to build the artwork within three months, alongside engaging in their regular study programmes. Street Light Evolution was on show during the Amsterdam Light Festival 2014-2015, which attracted over 700,000 visi- tors. 'This project illustrates an industrial designer's rol in society: integrating technical developments into designs. It's great that people can now see a real-life example of what our faculty does!'
