Bronze bust on a triangular, obelisk-like pedestal with masks and garlands, above the pedestal cornices are three bronze eagle with the imperial insignia: fasces, sceptre and orb.

One year after the sudden death of Franz Stephan in 1765, Maria Theresa commissioned this bronze bust of her husband. The bust was intended fort he remodelling oft he Menagerie Pavilion as a memorial monument. In 1830, for reasons that have not been recorded, the bust was moved to the present site.
