Beschrijving / Description

Wit hardstenen reliëf. In het midden is Maria afgebeeld, links van haar knielen twee monniken van de abdij, rechts zit een man met vrouw en kind als symbool van deze bevolking. Onder Maria is het wapenschild van Essen voorgesteld, met daaronder de wapenspreuk fortiter et patienter (Sterkte en geduld).

White bluestone relief. St. Mary is depicted in the centre, to her left kneel two monks of the abbey kneel, to the right a man sits with a woman and child as a symbol of the population. Below St. Mary is represented the coat of arms of Essen, with the motto fortiter et patienter (Strength and patience).
