Beschrijving / Description

Beeld van een garnaalvisser. De garnaalvisserij die werd door polderbewoners beoefend tot tot begin vorige eeuw. Het garnaalvissen gebeurde met een duwnet, een lange lat waaraan het net is vastgemaakt, voortgeduwd door een haaks erop staande lange stok, zoals op dit beeld te zien is.
Eric De Vree, de zoon van de beeldhouwer, heeft model gestaan voor het beeld, behalve voor het gezicht dat niet ruig genoeg was.

Image of a shrimp fisherman. Shrimp fishing was practiced by polder residents until the beginning of the last century. Shrimp fishing was done using a push net, a long slat to which the net is attached, propelled by a long stick positioned at a right angle to it, as can be seen in this sculpture.
Eric De Vree, the sculptor's son, posed for the statue, except for the face, which was not rugged enough.
