Smeedijzeren putkevie van ca. drie meter hoog op een waterput. Het ontwerp in neo-Vlaamse Renaissance-stijl is geïnspireerd op de 16de-eeuwse putkevie aan de Antwerpse Handschoenmarkt, die toegeschreven wordt aan Quinten Matsijs. De put is versierd met gedraaide zuilen en een weelderig loofwerk van eikenbladeren, waarin zes identieke wapenschilden zijn gevlochten. Het wapen is dat van de familie Nuyts en draagt hun motto pietas homini tutissima virtus (Vroomheid is de veiligste deugd voor de mens). Bovenaan staat een beeld van Sint-Gertrudis (met een muis op haar staf).
De put is in 1856 aan Zandvliet geschonken door Cornelius Josephus Nuyts, zoon van een vooraanstaande Antwerpse drukkersfamilie.
A wrought-iron wellhead approximately three metres high, situated atop a well. The design, in the Neo-Flemish Renaissance style, is inspired by the 16th-century wellhead on Antwerp’s Handschoenmarkt, attributed to Quinten Matsijs. The well is decorated with twisted columns and a lush foliage pattern of oak leaves, into which six identical coats of arms are woven. The coat of arms is that of the Nuyts family and bears their mottopietas homini tutissima virtus (Piety is the safest virtue for man). At the top stands a statue of Saint Gertrude (with a mouse on her staff).
The well was donated to Zandvliet in 1856 by Cornelius Josephus Nuyts, the son of a prominent Antwerp family of printers.
