Sculptuur van twee handen die een asymmetrische, open ring vastnemen. De onderste grote hand staat symbool voor de gemeenschap. De tweede, kleinere hand houdt de ring gespannen vast. Het lijkt of de handen de ruimte tussen de cirkel openen. De kunstenaar wil de relatie tussen mens en tijd aantonen, tussen denkbeeld en handeling.
Op de uiteinden van de 'ring' staat aan de ene kant 'De Tijd' en aan de andere kant een symbool.
Het beeld stond stond aanvankelijk op de Terlochtlaan en is in 2017 naar de huidige plaats verplaatst.
A sculpture of two hands grasping an asymmetrical, open ring. The lower, larger hand symbolises the community. The second, smaller hand holds the ring taut. It appears as though the hands are opening up the space within the circle. The artist aims to illustrate the relationship between humanity and time, between imagination and action.
At the ends of the ‘ring’, the words ‘De Tijd’ (Time) are inscribed on one side and a symbol on the other.
The sculpture was originally situated on Terlochtlaan and was moved to its current location in 2017.

Art in the Street
Art in the Street is a cultural project in Zwijndrecht and Burcht in the province of East Flanders. Between 1991 and 2012, the municipality of Zwijndrecht, in collaboration with the Cultural Council, acquired around twenty works of art for the ‘Art in the Street’ project. The works are displayed in public spaces and are made from materials including polyester, bronze, wood, blue stone, brick and Corten steel.
In 2025, the municipality of Zwijndrecht merged with Beveren and Kruibeke.
