Statue of a king with a sword and shield in a corner niche. Probably it is meant to depict King Wenceslaus, although his usual recognisable attributes (banner, imperial orb, sceptre, model of a church) are missing.
Nevertheless, Ahoj aus Prag! states: "The characteristic eagle on the coat of arms is obscured by the mantle. The banner he usually carries seems to have been left at home with his wife, whose name has not been handed down. But this is unquestionably Saint Wenceslas.
Of his traditional attributes in artistic depictions, in principle only the ducal cap is clearly recognisable; however, this was not associated with the saint until the 14th century, under Emperor Charles IV, in the form of the so-called Wenceslas Crown. He may not actually have worn such a headdress in reality. However, the rank of duke, symbolised by the cap, is appropriate for Wenceslas and corresponds to established iconography.
