Description

An obelisk featuring, on the front, a mourning woman with a laurel wreath at her feet. On three sides of the obelisk are 87 names of citizens of Kostelec nad Černými lesy who fell in battle or died, including 4 legionnaires. One name does not belong on the memorial, namely that of the missing Ant. Drvoštěp, who contacted his brother from Russia in 1933 to ask for financial assistance.
The monument was unveiled on 3 September 1922. On 2 July 1927, soil from Zborov was placed within the memorial to mark the 10th anniversary of the battle, and again on 2 July 2010. After 1945, a plaque commemorating the victims of the Second World War was added. In 1998, the memorial was damaged by an unknown vandal; it was repaired in 2006.
