Sculpture of the ‘Lömmetrater’, clay tampers who, when building houses, used their feet to tamp the clay into a workable mass.

jeder schritt

mit kleinen füssen
jeder tritt
ist wie ein tanz
in feuchter erde

ist gruss und

ineinanderfliessen

damit der lehm

zur mauer werde

And every turn

every step

with little feet
every tread
is like a dance
in damp earth

is a greeting and

a merging

so that the clay

may become a wall
