Beschreibung / Description

An der Fassade der St.-Martins-Kirche sind acht Nischen zu sehen, in denen Statuen von heiligen stehen. Die Figuren, die den Erlöser, den Heiligen Sebastian, die Jungfrau Maria und den Heiligen Laurentius darstellen, sowie das Relief mit dem IHS-Symbol und das Wappen des Fürstbischofs Lothar Franz von Schönborn stammen von Johann Michael Maucher. Die übrigen Figuren sind das Werk eines anderen Künstlers. Anderen Quellen zufolge werden Maucher lediglich zwei Skulpturen zugeschrieben. Der Name des 'anderen Künstlers' ist nicht bekannt.

The façade of St Martin’s Church features eight niches containing statues of saints. The figures of the Saviour, St Sebastian, the Virgin Mary and St Lawrence, the relief of the IHS symbol and the coat of arms of Prince-Bishop Lothar Franz von Schönborn were created by Johann Michael Maucher. The other figures are by an other artist. Other sources state that only two sculptures are attributed to Maucher. The name of the ‘other artist’ is unknown.
