Beschreibung / Description

Bronze pump with four women around it, standing in a hexagonal fountain basin. The basin has on the sides a text plaque with the coats of arms of Fuilda en on two other sides the coats of arms of Oberglogau and Leitmeritz and those of Arles and Como respectively.

milchborn hiess jener ziehbrunnen in
der marktstrasse - früher töpfergasse
der hier in der nähe des hauses höfling
seit dem mittelalter bis mitte des 19. jh.
gestanden hat. er wurde später durch
einen pumpenbrunnen ersetzt (pumpen-
höfling), der nach der jahrhundert-
wende abgebrochen wurde.
neu errichtet 1975

Anmerkung / Annotation

The sculpture symbolizes that women in earlier centuries had to do heavy work to feed their family. It is the only work of art in Fulda showing working women.
