Beschreibung / Description
On the Bleichstraße façade of St. Peter's Church are statues of the four evangelists without their characteristic attributes, making it not possible to identify them individually (except for the young St. John):
- St. Matthäus / St. Matthew one of the twelve Apostles of Jesus and one of the four Evangelists. His attribute is an angel. As patron saint of book-keepers, tax collectors and security forces, he is also depicted with writing utensils

- St. Markus / St. Mark one the four Evangelists. His attribute is a lion
(Wikipedia).
- St. Lukas / St. Luke one of the four Evangelists. His attribute is an ox or bull, usually having wings
(Wikipedia).
- St. Johannes / St. John the Evangelist conventional name for the author of the Gospel of John - considered to be the same person as John the Apostle
(Wikipedia).
The statues of St. Matthew and John are made by Krüger, St. Mark and Luke by Hausmann
Originally, there was also a statue of St. Peter.
Anmerkung / Annotation
The church was built from 1891 to 1894 after designs of Hans Grisebach and August Dinklage, after the destruction in World War II it was rebuilt 1961-1965 by Theo Kellner and Wilhelm Massing.
