Glassblower Fountain

1939

Rinteln / Glasbläserbrunnen   Rinteln / Glasbläserbrunnen

Description

Sandstone fountain figure showing the glassblower making a large glass balloon, a 'Demyohn', as was used for wine or vinegar.
Experts believe that the glassblower has the wrong posture and that the balloon should be on the right side of his body.
The fountain is made of Oberkirchen sandstone and was donated by the glass factory Hermannshütte 'Gebr&252;der Stoevesandt von 1874' on the occasion of the 700th anniversary celebrations in 1939. It was designed and realised by Otto Blendermann, Alfred Langel and Herbert Kubicka from Bremen.
