Am 30. September 2018 feierte Breyell die 900-jährige Wiederkehr seiner ersten urkundlichen Erwähnung. Die Skulptur zeigt den Umriss des heutigen Breyells, das am östlichen Rand von der Nette durchflossen wird. Des Weiteren sind das Wappen des Grafen von Kessel, zu dessen Herrschaftsbereich das heutige Gebiet von Breyell damals gehörte und das Logo der Stadt Nettetal, zu der Breyell seit 1970 als einer von sechs Stadtteilen heute gehört, abgebildet. Das Kunstwerk wurde von dem in Breyell wohnenden Künstler Rudolf Meyer geschaffen und anlässlich der 900-Jahrfeier gestiftet. Verkehrsverein Breyell e.V. |
On 30 September 2018, Breyell celebrated the 900th anniversary of its first documented mention. The sculpture shows the outline of today's Breyell, which is crossed by the Nette river on its eastern edge. It also features the coat of arms of the Count of Kessel, who ruled over the area that is now Breyell, and the logo of the town of Nettetal, to which Breyell has belonged since 1970 as one of six districts.
