Description

Skulptur eines Jungen und eines Mädchens. Das Mädchen hat ein Rechenheft auf dem Schoß, schaut aber auf ein Tablet, das der Junge ihr zeigt. Auf dem Tablet steht ein englisches Zitat mit deutscher Übersetzung der pakistanischen Kinderrechtsaktivistin und Friedensnobelpreisträgerin von 2014, Malala Yousafzai (geb. 1997): „Ein Kind, ein Lehrer, ein Stift und ein Buch können die Welt verändern.“ Hinter ihnen liegen ein Abakus, Tintenfass und Feder, ein Buch „Religionen der Welt“ mit einem Zitat von Teresa von Ávila, eine Schiefertafel mit dem Text „Ich lese ein Buch – Jetztzeit = Gegenwart; Ich las ein Buch – Vergangenheit; Ich werde ein Buch lesen – Zukunft.“ Außerdem Zitate von Heinrich Heine, Konfuzius, Nelson Mandela, und Benjamin Britten. Ein Globus, um den ein Band gewickelt ist, auf dem die Worte „Bildung, Toleranz, Respekt, Verantwortung, Geduld, Verständnis“ stehen. Auf der untersten Ebene der Bücher stehen an der Seite die Namen der Fächer: „Philosophie, Geschichte, Mathematik, Literatur.“.
Die Statue wurde anlässlich des 25-jährigen Jubiläums des Heimatvereins aufgestellt.

Behind them lie an abacus, inkwell and pen, a book titled 'Religions of the World' with a quotation from Teresa of Ávila, and a slate bearing the text ’I am reading a book – Now = Present; I read a book – Past; I will read a book – Future." There are also quotations from Heinrich Heine, Confucius, Nelson Mandela and Benjamin Britten. A globe with a belt around it, bearing the words 'Education, Tolerance, Respect, Responsibility, Patience, Understanding’. On the bottom layer of books, the names of subjects are listed on the side: 'Philosophy, History, Mathematics, Literature.'
The statue was erected to mark the 25th anniversary of the Heimatverein Epe e.V.
