martyr, according to tradition a Praefectus cohortis of a Cohort of the Theban Legion. He was executed in the 4th century in the amphitheater of Castra Vetera (Xanten) for refusing to sacrifice to the Roman gods

Beschreibung / Description

Stone statue of St. Victor on a column from the Staufer period. The statue shows the saint with pilgrim's hat and scallops.

Anmerkung / Annotation

Saint Victor is shown as people in the Middle Ages would present a real saint. Meister Heinrich Blangenbeyl created the stone statue in 1468 and presented it in accordance with the then fashion as a teenage-knight on the pilgrimage route.
The statue is recently re-painted (or replaced by a copy).
