Column with reliefs showing historical scenes from the town of Gladbeck. It starts at ground level with the wild horses on the Gladebeke from early history, and continues with the Bronze Age urn finds in Ellinghorst, the earliest settlements, the mighty half-timbered houses of the Saxon and Carolingian times, the Christianization, the old onion-domed village church, the Haus Wittringen in the 13th century, Johann Heinrich Riesener in the laurel wreath of world fame, the winding towers and chimneys from the mining era, the ruined city at the end of World War II and it ends at the top with rows of skyscrapers where the artist critically questions the future of his hometown.
