Description

Sculpture of a girl sitting on a large stone block. Originally, it was a fountain - the basin is now filled with plants.

About this sculpture in the Stadtspiegel of 8 July 2021 (translated):
The statue originally stood in a different place and the current plant bed was originally something else, namely a small fountain with a so-called 'Manneken-Pis' as a fountain figure. This first figure fell victim to a vandalism attack in the early 1970s and was removed. Around the same time, the fountain system was shut down, as was the system on the Kärntner Ring next to the kiosk on Teplitzer Straße. And this second fountain had the 'sitting girl' as a fountain figure. This was moved to Vehrenbergstraße by the property owner at the time, VEBA-Wohnstätten, and the fountain became a plant bed. Other copies of the statue were placed in public places elsewhere in Germany. The artist is unfortunately unknown.
