Cuenta la leyenda que este tipo de sirénidos ha ayudado durante miles de años a las Ama (mujeres del mar) japonesas en su tarea de recolección de perlas en la costa de Shima. Reconoce el trabajo de la mujer en todos los oficios relacionados con el mar.

According to the legend, these mermaids have for thousands of years helped the Japanese Ama (sea woman) while collecting pearls on the coasts of Shima. lt appreciates the work of women in all professions related to the sea.

Der Legende nach ha ben diese Art von Seejungfern wahrend Tausenden von Jahren den japanischen Ama (Meeresfrauen) dabei geholfen, an der Küste von Shima nach Perlen zu tauchen. Die Skulptur steht für die Anerkennung der Arbeit der Frau in allen mit dem Meer verbundenen Bereichen.

Mareseum

'Mareseum' is an open-air museum that includes five pieces of art by by artists of different nationalities and based on the same topic: the sea and everything that belongs in it and is inspired by it.
These artworks were made in November 2017, at the 1st International Sculptors Meeting in Tarajalejo, FÔRMAR 2017, and they stretch along the village's promenade, creating a unique museum that invites you to discover and interpreting the artworks.

The five sculptures are:

Pescador de Sueños, by Juan Miguel Cubas (Fuerteventura),
Seahorse, by Antonina Fatkhullina (Russia),
Ventana al infinito, by Ana Mamulashvili (Georgia) (abstract, included here to be complete),
Ladrón de perlas IV, by Amancio González (Spain),
Islas Canarias, by Jhon Gogaberishvili (Georgia),
