Statue of Simón Bolívar standing in a thoughtfur pose, with one hand at his chin. On the side of tha baseplate the name of the donor: amigos de garachico. At the right side of the pedestal a plaque is mounted with a genealogy of Bolívar's descent from the brothers Juan and Tomas de Ponte Fernandez y Clavijo, who emigrated at the end of the sixteenth century from Garachico to Venezuela. The brothers are grandchildren of the founder of Garachico Cristóbal de Ponte, whose bust is in the Parque de la Puerta de Tierra.
The monolith at the base, the light source and the gardens are the work of the Garachian artist Pascual González Regalado. T coats-of-arms of the Bolivarian countr and Spain, engraved in bronze by the artists Edelina Martín, Rosa León, Roberto Padrón and Francisco Rodríguez, have been embedded in the pavement of the square. The coats of arms of Spain and Venezuela are directly in front of the statue (we photographed only four of them).
