The façade of the Villasegura building, built in the early 20th century and designed by Manuel de Cámara y Cruz, is decorated with medallions with portrait reliefs of Viera y Clavijo, and Bethencourt y Molina, made by Eduardo Tarquis. An third medaillon in the top center of the building showed Imeldo Serís Granier y Blanco, Marquis of Villasegura (this medaillon has disappeared some time ago, according to Tarquis' biography).

The Marquis se Villaseruga, who died 1908, had meant the building to house a museum and a library. After his death the purposes of the building were distributed by floors: on the ground floor a study centre with six large rooms for the teaching of classes; and on the upper floor, two large rooms for museum, library and assembly hall.
