Abstract corten steel statue of a peasant with hat and staff, donated by Federación de Asociaciones de Vecinos Aguere (Federation of Neighbourhood Associations Aguere).

"The sculpture symbolizes a man of the countryside in his loneliness, presenting him as a resistant of the agricultural work in the current panorama more and more distant from the rural world. His long cane also represents a tribute to the scepter of command of the ancient Guanches, as a metaphor of their defense of the legacy of the aboriginal people. The poetic charge of the work is concentrated in the butterfly wings that adorn the staff, symbolizing the transformation of the hard work of the field into the beauty of man's attachment to nature and his obtaining the fruits of the earth."
This 'Monument to the Peasant' is part of a group of more than twenty pieces by the same artist, some of which are installed in various parts of the island, and which have the generic title of 'Under the sky of Tenerife'.
