Gazetted in South Staffordshire Regiment 1876
Commander 3^rd Battalion South Staffordshire Regiment
South Africa 1901 and Mentioned in Despatches.
High Sheriff and Deputy Lieutenant of the County of Stafford.
Elected Freeman of the City and County of Lichfield 1936.
Died in 1948 aged 90 years and remembered as one of the City's
great benefactors, particularly in respect of the
Lichfield Victoria Hospital of which Management Committee
he was President from 1913-27.
The gift of 12 acrres of land for the provision of
recreational facilities and now forming part of Beacon Park.
Large sums of money left for the benefit of the Citizens
for the provision of Recreation and Amenity Facilities.
His bequest of silver plate and sporting trophies
to the City Council.
The provision of the clock on Guildhall and other numerous
material and financial gifts to various charitable
and voluntary bodies in the City.
His family Coat of Arms is depicted in stained glass
on the side of Guildhall
