Ten (we saw only seven) bronze pillars in semicircle, each pillar covered in red, yellow and green handprints made by school children in Leeds and Durban, to symbolise South Africa's walk to freedom and create a visual interpretation of Nelson Mandela's book From Freedom to Future.
It was commissioned by Leeds City Council to honour of democracy in South Africa. It stand at the 2004 Chelsea Flower Show, and found later a permanent place in Millennium Square.
