Description

Iron artwork showing three herring girls. Herring girls (or herring lasses) were groups of women who would travel the east coast of the United Kingdom from as far north as Aberdeen to as far south as Great Yarmouth, following herring as they migrated throughout the year. They salted the catcher of the fishermen.
The artwork is inspired by the story of the Scarborough Fair, a huge 45-day trading event starting on 15 August, which was exceptionally long for a fair in those times (Wikipedia). the seasonal gathering to sell herring; but nowadays famous because of the ballad Are you going to Scarborough Fair? (Wikipedia).
