better known as Sir Anthony Panizzi, was a naturalised British librarian of Italian birth and an Italian patriot. He was the Principal Librarian (i.e. head) of the British Museum from 1856 to 1866

Description

Stone half figure; on the pedestal is an allegorical relief 'La fermezza coronata dalla vittoria' - The firmness crowned by victory.

Brescello - Antonio Panizzi

The original bronze bust made by Ferrari was molten during World War II and in 1946 replaced with a marble copy made by Carlo Pisi.
