Description

Church of the early 14th century, but the present simple façade was designed by Alessandro Gherardesca, in 1835. The two saints's statues of Carrara marble are from 1697.

San Giovanni Battista / St. John the Baptist
(c. 6 BC- c. 36 AD), itinerant preacher and a major religious figure who led a movement of baptism at the Jordan River. He baptized Jesus at "Bethany beyond the Jordan." (Wikipedia).
