Description

Statue of Lady Justice with blindfold, sword and scales on the top of the façade of the Riga Town Hall.

Annotation

Themis was daughter of God Ouranos (god of sky) and married to God Zeus and she was believed to incarnate the divine justice and order protecting the oppressed. Her distinctive symbols were the scale, the sword, and the sceptre at hand.

Artist

Edvins Krumiņš (Ugale 1959, Latvian sculptor, specialized in the restoration and reconstruction of historical monuments (CV on Facebook).
