Kyritz / Bassewitzbrunnen   Kyritz / Bassewitzbrunnen

Description

Fountain erected for the 770th anniversary of the town of Kyritz. The figures are based on the Bassewitz legend, as described by Theodor Fontane. The three women with bowls – from which water flows – represent the brave Kyritz women who poured hot porridge over the head of the robber baron Bassewitz, when he came out of an underground passage. Bassewitz himself is shown only with head and shoulders above the ground.
