The east side of Werburgh Street has a range of half-timbered houses, designed by the architect John Douglas in 1895-97. He had bought the entire length of the east side of the street for his plan to create a series of buildings in a unified architectural design. A few of these have sculptures, no. 2-4, and no. 10-12.
